analogue filter or treatment box (and stereo/mono importance)

I was vaguely interested in something like Elektron Analog Heat or Waldorf 2-Pole filter.

I think technically these are two totally different things, but with overlap?

Why would someone buy the Waldorf 2-Pole filter over and above the cutoff they already have on their synth?

Not interested in distortion, but "beefing up" my sound - on pads specifically... and another filter wouldn't go a miss for adding a different sound, but would this really improve the sound better than the built in VA cut off? or it should at least bring more options? What would the LFO do on a filter? (the synth is Roland system-8)

Also not sure about the importance of stereo. Most analogue filters are mono... is this useless for pads?

Could a SEM filter give me an Oberheim sound?

Bit of an erratic post but any insight would be great, thanks.
