Synth noob here. Like.... very new. I’m trying to break into creating my own music. I picked up a digital piano a few months ago and I’ve been learning theory and how to play, but what I want to have more layers besides just a piano.
So I think I’ll be picking up a Keystep soon, but I’m not really sure what I’m gonna be able to do with it. My assumption is that I’ll be able to put some notes together, maybe loop a backing rhythm—maybe layer over it with my piano or something. I also have Reaper, and I’m guessing I’ll eventually connect everything there, but again I’m not really sure.
The TL;DR is: What can I create with just the Keystep? ELI5.
Edit: I’ll also be using Reaper.

I’ve shown respect to you all by asking your expert opinion, all I want is that in return. And I’ve done more research on my own since I posted this but I wouldn’t have known where to start without your advice. Sorry to get butthurt but I want to create some music just like all of you, and this handy forum website called Reddit helps to give me the ability to start, so I’m gonna do that.
