Vortex Sound Research

I'm interested in getting rings because of the four voice mode, but can you actually play chords on a keyboard with Rings? I tried this out in VCV rack with MIDI-1 but it didn't work; however, if I set up a chord generator, it could play chords. My thought is that you could switch the gates to triggers. Could anyone that owns Rings let me know about their experience with the polyphony?
