Best small keyboard/synth for a cheaper/mid range price?

I'm a guitarist and vocalist in an alternative rock/indie rock band, but after getting into Grandaddy's "Under the Western Freeway" and "The Sophtware Slump" I was thinking of getting synths into our music to complement heavier distorted guitars. I'm not looking for anything too professional or expensive or big for that matter as I move a lot when playing and use a bunch of pedals for my guitar. We have synths in the studio where we record, and I have an electric piano which belongs to my sister, but I'd really like something I can use live, but the only current option I have is way too bulky and immobile. So is there any smaller cheaper option I could buy in the near future? I was thinking something reminiscent of the Arturia MiniLab or something, but I'm just a guitarist and only now getting into piano and keyboards, so I thought I'd just ask experienced players.

Songs for reference would be Grandaddy - A.M. 180 (Main riff), Dinosaur Jr. - Thumb (strings/brass riffs), Smashing Pumpkins - 1979 (the synth in the chorus), Grandaddy - I'm in Love with No One (droning low synth/bass).

Bonus points if the synth has a built in looper or a larger variety of sounds since I'm more of a sound and noise guy rather than a more technical player.

Thanks in advance!
