I have an 8-year-old son who has an interest in making music. He's learning to play the guitar and was happy to play around with Logic Pro X and a MIDI Keyboard this weekend, writing his first little song.
I'd like to encourage this new interest as much as possible. Viral videos show me marvelous new technologies and developments that make great sounding music production achievable in a playful way for young children. I see lots of kids producing beats using pads, for instance.
I have a limited budget and he has limited access to computers. He lives with his mother, so he can only use my stuff on weekends. He's turning nine next month and I'd like to give him something to make (and ideally also record) music with at home. Something that enables him to write songs like when he's here at my place.
What hard- and software would you recommend? He only has a Fire HD tablet. What affordable technology can I get him to make music production a satisfying game?
I'd be incredibly grateful for some suggestions!
