Looking for a sequencer? Don’t write off using a laptop instead of a rack sequencer

So I understand some want that hands on feel or everything within one space, but don’t write off using a laptop and midi interface to sequence your drums and melodies.

You get A LOT more control over over what’s played, the rhythms, the groove, through midi or cv sent from ableton live. Many of you already have a capable laptop/desktop so just getting a good midi interface or going all in on an expert sleepers module/dc coupled interface and ableton suite can get you results that no standard rack sequencer ever could.

With the DAW you can sequence the entire song, with program changes and everything in an interface that you can actually see into and fine adjust instead of doing things blind through hidden menus and shortcuts.

If your the kind that wants to move beyond simple, quantized sequences, I highly recommend it.

Depending on your needs, a used laptop and midi interface could actually be cheaper than your dream quantizer.

That said there are special sequencers that can do things that daws can’t, but don’t write off the option quite yet Smile
