Q: Can anyone recommend music notation software that can sends midi notes to my synth?

I come from a classically trained background and I'm pretty comfortable with scoring music. I already know how to use my synth as a midi controller to assist in inputting notes into a score. What I cannot figure out, is if there's a program that can play those midi notes back to my synth, so I can mess with knobs and stuff while it's doing it's thing.

Not sure if this even exists and I failed at trying to Google it.
