Trogotronic PSU and general frustration...

So I got in to modular a little while ago and it quickly became a huge part of my life as I'm sure most of you can relate. At first I had a 104HP 6U case with a plum audio PSU, but I quickly started running out of room, incidentally someone was selling a 15U for a good price with a Trogotronic PSU. I had heard good things about it, and the case is big and beautiful and wooden, so I went for it.

....well, things don't always work out the way we expect. This thing has been a nightmare and I don't even know what to do anymore... It started with the fact that certain modules would 'shock' me, like literally touching switches would give out a little shock. I thought maybe it was somethign to do with the outlet, so I plugged it into an outlet far away from any other electronics, and all was well. Then after a while I started having this incredibly loud buzzing/humming whenever I turned on the case. Thinking it might be my mixer, I ditched it and connected headphones directly to the case.

Still noisy. So I stripped it down *completely*, and started plugging in modules one at a time to figure out if maybe I had overloaded the power, or.... I dunno. First row installed, all is well. Second row installed - all is well. Except sometimes a module will still shock me, or the -12v lights won't turn on. My VCAs distort any signal passed into them, Maths at self-oscillating has this really loud humming... sometimes the Qu-Bit Bloom internal clock goes batshit...

I've reached out to Trogotonic and they helped as much as they could I suppose, but living on the other side of the world, getting into a saga of shipping the unit to them to physically examine.. that's way past my budget and time.

I'm so incredibly frustrated, I just had to vent. I don't know where to go from here. I just want to fucking play my modules! I've done everything to try to isolate the problem, and yet it feels like every time I fix something, something else breaks. I'm down to bare-minimum modules and it's still unplayable at times. My worry is that all this trouble is just going to turn me off of modular completely. I don't want to get to that point! But right now I'm spending more time trying to get this to work for more than a day, rather than making music. I'm very sad Sad
