How to to learn how to actually play keyboard/synth?

So I’ve been using synths and computers to make electronic music and noises for like 15-20 years and I’ve owned both keyboard synths as well as desktop modules and I’m building a modular.

I’ve never learned how to play piano or keyboard and I’m kind of tired of it and I want to be able to play a little bit and try out patches by actually playing something instead of just mashing random keys and compose some music without just using trial-and-error.

My question is what’s the best way to learn? I don’t want to be a virtuoso pianist or anything, but I’d like to be able to make decent use of keyboards to compose music or just have fun. It feels kind of weird having synths with keyboards and basically be like a monkey banging on it. Like I’d like to be able to play basic chords and scales and some theory with it.

Should I take piano lessons? Are there good online classes or videos or something like that? Or just try to teach myself? Anyone else learn to play a keyboard years after you got into synths?
