Question about USB and midi

I am wondering if it’s possible to use a USB hub to transfer midi from my Novation SL49 mkiii to my hardware without a computer. I have a bunch of synths with USB/midi in (but no midi thru) and am trying to avoid buying a Quadra thru if I can. As I’m imagining it, I could send midi over USB from my SL49 to the USB hub, and then from 3 USB cables out to my synths. My gut says this won’t work but I’m not sure why it wouldn’t…

I also wanted to know if using a USB hub would work for sending audio out from an audio interface to my phone, for example. I would like to use my phone’s camera to record jams and then have the audio coming live over ableton to the USB hub and then to my phones lightning input. This would save me having to sync my audio with video, which I am terrible at.

Any advice? I never use a DAW so I have never had to use USB for linking my synths, I just want to know if this can work in lieu of doing strictly midi I/O. Those thru boxes get expensive. Thanks!
