Another post about what to buy first

Hey there,

I want to start modular, but I've been breaking my head on what to buy. I have a budget of around 2000 EU (2200USD+-), but of course I don't need to spend it all at once. I just want to start with the bare necessities, have top notch quality modules that can stay in my rack once I learn more and more about modular.

I mostly produce Darkwave / Techno so I'm really into raw / slightly overdriven synths, weird sequences, fat basslines & lot's of random sounds / bleeps with a lot of reverb & delay.

It doesn't need to be a standalone all-in-one device, my current workflow is: create a sound in an analog synth or vst in my DAW and finish it in my DAW. Maybe want to go standalone in the future but for now I'm okay with creating a specific sound in my modular synth and send it to my daw. My drumpatterns are currently done with an elektron octatrack which will stay in my studio (it's so nice).

I came up with this starting point: https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/998248

What I'm missing is a sequencer, I just don't know what to get, thinking of the René. (I have a korg sequencer in my studio already so I can just use that one and save some money).

Also, do you have any tips on a clock module, can also be combined with the sequencer if that saves money.

Sorry if I ask stupid questions, I'm eager to learn but there is so much!!!

Thanks!
