Vortex Sound Research

Hey so prolly a dumb question here but can I use an external midi keyboard to control the Arturia Microfreak? I like the keys it has but would love to use my akai keyboard instead. Just wondering if I'd need extra stuff outside of the midi keyboard and synth to do it.
