The goal is to use my beatstep pro in a live setting with my Sub Phatty and a drum machine, which I have yet to buy. Before I buy the drum machine, I want to make sure that I can connect the Beat Step Pro to both the Sub Phatty and Drum machine such that they can play different patterns, such as a drum beat through the drum machine, and a different synth pattern on top.
My worry is that midi out will send all midi information from both the drum sequence and the synth sequence to whichever piece of hardware I route the midi out to, so I wont be able to separate the patterns in the sequences.
Should I simply ignore midi out and use all of the other outputs on the back? Will that keep the sequences separate?
The drum machine I'm looking at is the TR 08, but I noticed that one doesn't have 8 inputs for the gates. Could anyone recommend a piece of hardware that would allow me to route the drum gates from the beat step pro to the TR 08, and still keep a separate sequence going on my Sub Phatty?
