First synth buy. Need recommendations.

I am currently looking to buy my first synth. I have been looking at several different models, but unsure of what I need and what makes the most sense. I love EBM like DAF, Nitzer Ebb, etc. and newer synth pop/darkwave bands like Boy Harsher, CCFX, and Drab Majesty. I have never purchased a synthesizer before and having been looking at the Korg MS-20 Mini, Korg Monologue, and the Behringer MS-1.

Again, I am new to the synth word, but have played many different instruments in the past so I have a very basic understanding of synthesizers in general. My current setup is running a small 2 track audio interface into my computer with GarageBand (looking at buying a better DAW program as well). Also, for making this music, what is some other gear I need (sequencer, sampler, drum machine, etc.)? I would like to spend under $1000 for this first setup, it would be nice to have something that is versatile so that don't immediately have to upgrade to a better system once I want more sounds, while also being pretty easy to learn on. Any help is appreciated.

submitted by /u/steventylerperry
[link] [comments]
