So I watched the sonicstate review today of the Oberheim-6. Good god above. I've never heard a synth sound so beautiful. The warmth of the sound, the filter, the effects. Just stunning. It got me thinking... what are some of the best synths you've ever heard? Purely rating on sound. How did it make you feel? Music taps into everyone a bit different. I think it's amazing how some electrical signals in a box can trigger these complex emotional responses in people. I find myself getting wrapped up too much in features instead of the actual sound of a synth when researching them, and I'm working on that. The OB-6 has definitely opened my eyes to what a good poly analog can sound like. But I definitely think they're all beautiful instruments with endless possibilities and that's what really attracts me to them. Anyways, I just wanted to start a discussion on all of this. I think appreciating the sound of any synth, regardless of hype and price, is awesome. And we could all just take a step back once in a while and enjoy where the waves take you. ?

submitted by /u/doe127
[link] [comments]
