Small modular setup for semi-modular kit

Hey gang, sorry in advance for being probably the 200000th person to ask this question here.

I’ve got a few pieces of hardware right now - a Microfreak, a Zoia, a Digitakt, a Keystep 37, some Volcas - and I’m interested in adding a small modular synth to the mix. I love modular synthesis - I got a taste of it on a MiniBrute 2S and really want something small and relatively affordable - like the size of a intellijel 4U would be perfect.

Problem is I’m not sure what to fill it with. I’d be playing from my keystep, maybe doing some sequencing from the Digitakt. I’d have FX covered with the zoia. So I’m hoping that would leave some room for more modules that would make the instrument more, well, modular. I really just want a unique synth I can make some cool sounds with, while enjoying some patch cable experimentation.

Any tips? Module recommendations? I’m already anticipating “buy a bigger rack” but I unfortunately don’t have the room or budget really.

submitted by /u/HellShaq
[link] [comments]
