Akai Force vs external gear issue

I have my Akai force and it’s doing wonders for my setup. However I hit a snag today and could use some help.

I have a Keystep plugged into the Force via USB. The Force recognized it and it appears in all my routing menus. From there I have it being sent out on channel 2 to my DSI Evolver. But alas the Evolver will not make sounds no matter how I route and monitor it. The thing is that the MIDI activity light on the Evolver blinks when I hit keys on the Keystep or pads on the Force, so it seems like it’s being routed correctly.

If I plug the Keystep directly into the Evolver with a din cable it works just fine.

Also, while troubleshooting I discovered that 1/8” trs to din does not work at all in this setup (I used a ts-din to get the above result). Coming out of the Force it does not even cause the MIDI indicator light to blink. Is this a known issue? All my other gear is just fine with the very same converters.

I wasn’t expecting to start my external gear journey this way. Any input or ideas would be much appreciated.

submitted by /u/Stellar_unit
[link] [comments]
