Sampler for live performance

When I’m at home I have easy access to a lot of software and a decent amount of synths, but I’m currently looking to incorporate synth into a band that I usually play guitar in and I don’t want to haul around a ton of gear.

I’ve been experimenting with using logic’s sampler to make my synth patches accessible without having to set up much gear, and I really like it. While using logic’s sampler and a midi keyboard is an option, in the past I’ve found that some live conditions (especially playing in the heat) can be pretty rough on laptops, and I’d rather not risk my relatively expensive computer/my primary production tool in a live setting.

Are their any inexpensive pieces of gear that do something similar? Basically, I’m looking for something you can load samples into and play via midi. Additional features, like velocity determined sample playback, aftertouch options, etc… are a plus but not necessary.

I’m also open to software that can be played off of tablets or even phones, as those can usually be found used at a decent price. I supposed a used MacBook Air with logic would also be an option, but I’d like to see what’s out there.

submitted by /u/JayLemmo
[link] [comments]
