Minilogue xD and the quest for warm epiano-ish sounds.

Many describe the ml sound like thin or cold, sterile of some sort and I can only agree. While this helps in the mix with harsh sounds its hard for me to dial in those smooth pianos.

I tried with the MF as direct comparison with no effects. On the MF I can use pretty much anything and tune it to those soft pianos with a pleasant mid end. On the ML its different, even when I use just a sine from the digital I cant get it too "fill the gap". Same from the analogue oscs with different amount of filtering and the most clean shapes without the overtones.

Its a bit like they lowered 800 hz or sthg so the noobs got it easier while mixing Big Grin

The only thing that works is a lot of resonance to fill in the empty spot with the filter set at the right frequency.

Any thoughts? I mean its capable of a lot of interesting sounds but it seems kind of pre eqed.

submitted by /u/BKLronin
[link] [comments]
