Portable Recording Solution

Hi everyone just looking for real world experience of using either a mobile (iRig pro duo etc) or dedicated field recorder eg Zoom H4n pro etc as portable recorders for travelling with mini synths etc. I like the idea of the irig for ease and simplicity and probably slightly more user friendly apps for editing etc than on a field recorder, but not sure if I would miss having built in mics if I want to do field recording and having a dedicated reliable unit that can be powered separately - if using iPhone I lose charging port.

For reference I am not strictly needing multitrack for recording more than two channels at once as want to keep size and weight down - the h4n is about as big as I want to go and overdub looks handy for multitracking, something. I assume possible in an app with irig too. Will be using things like softpop, pocket operators, volcas or microfreak etc as sound source. So would be handy to have a device where I can choose to record mono or stereo. Thanks!!

submitted by /u/More-Rich-912
[link] [comments]
