Pre-amps and vintage synthesizers... How important is a pre-amp to YOU?! Thoughts?

Hey, all!

I've recently started doing more and more work for film and television. For my personal setup now, I use a Focusrite Saffire Pro40, however, my songwriting partner and I were talking this morning about ways to improve our studio and pre-amps came up, and I am curious to gain a bit more knowledge from this group as I know very little about that world.

We run a lot of vintage synthesizers, like a Juno-106, and Prophet, as well as the Moog Matriarch, Grandmother, Sirin, DFAM, and Mother32, as well as a large Euro-rack setup.

My question is, when recording analog synthesizers, would we benefit from having BIGGER and BETTER pres like the Universal Audio 710 Twin-Finity for example, which utilizes both tubes and solid state circuitry. Just wondering as we build the studio up, where we should spend our money and what the best pieces of gear would be to look at first to up our quality even more, when we already FEEL like it's pretty darn good...

Any comments, suggestions, commentary, advice welcome! Thank you in advance!

submitted by /u/SkeletonBeach
[link] [comments]
