This is a really dumb question. How do you get the synth to play itself?

IS it all just a sequencer from a midi keyboard or do some synths have it built in them. I have a beh2600 and when I look for vids online for patch examples and sounds, almost all of them have some dude just turning sliders n stuff and not even playing.. like it does an auto arpeggiator.

I'm pretty new to synths so please be gentle with my karma lmaoo
