Techniques using 2 filters?

I've noticed there are some synths which employ two filters, such as Matriarch and Quadrantid Swarm, which are patched in series. I was wondering what might be the benefit of setting up two filters this way? More broadly, what are some techniques which use two filter modules? I have two in my rack which I mostly use for separate voices, but I wonder how else people might use them.

Thanks for your thoughts!
