What modular gear would be a good complement to the Moog Matriarch?

I just ordered a Matriarch Dark on a whim during the BF sale. I will probably regret it but I had been lusting over it since last year and couldn't resist. I don't plan on building a complex modular rig like some do but I'd be willing to add one or two other bits of gear with modular I/O to expand the capabilities of the Matriarch. What sort of gear would complement a Matriarch well?

I will need to buy some patch cables, what lenghts do you use/recommend? Does it matter if the cables are a bit longer than needed (from an electromagnetic interference perspective)?

I had read a bunch of bad stuff about the Matriarch (bugs, scratchy pots, wobbly buttons, noise, glide problem, hung notes, etc) stuff and I've disregarded all of that hoping that it all goes unnoticed as I have no expectations other than nice sound.
