Best free vst synth to learn the basics on?

I'm trying to learn more about sound design and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a good free synth that has a lot of in depth tutorials and info I can find about how everything within in works so that I learn to use other synths also.

I've been using tal noise maker and it's great but there is a lack of resources for it as the user manual is not up to date and doesn't give a lot of visitation.
