How many of you use your modular as a regular ol monosynth?

Im currently tossing up between a few monosynths, namely the korg 700 reissue and a matriarch.

I was thinking maybe it would be a cool idea to just build out a monosynth with modules, which I can chop and change to create a sort of evolving/chameleon monosynth.

Is this a waste of money considering I have absolutely no interest in intense generative CV sequencing and modulation?

Thanks for any help!
