which polysynth for shoegaze/post-punk fun?

Mainly a guitarist but dabble in synths from time to time... I currently have a Novation Bass Station II but want to augment it with a polysynth because I like chords, pads, and string sounds. What's my best bet for something reasonably priced and space-efficient that can get me those late 70s/early-mid 80s sounds? I'd probably want to use the Bass Station as the controller if a module makes more sense than a full keyboard synth. Not doing anything super complex, 3- and 4-note chords mainly.

The Roland JU-06A? Yamaha Reface CS? Some manner of Volca? Would keep the budget around $500 CDN.

Thanks!
