Need a midi controller for a vintage drum machine, Yamaha RX5

Howdy, I bought a Yamaha RX5 and while it does have a normal footswitch, it can only start and stop patterns. I would like to have a second button to be able to press when I want to go to the next pattern in the song. The problem is most midi footswitches I found seem to be made for guitar pedals and don't seem like they would work for my purpose? How should I go about this? Is this even possible and am I just wasting my time?
