Can you use a TRS Y-Splitter cable for Midi-Out to two devices

In my setup I have three devices that use TRS midi (Type-A) - so they all connect well together just using normal TRS cables. However I have to plug and unplug them constantly because they all have only one in and out (through does not work). So I had a TRS Y-Splitter cable laying around and tried splitting the Midi-Out signal of the main device to the other two. And it just seems to work perfectly. So far everything just works. I am still a bit concerned however since I read in an old post that midi is a current loop and can damage devices if daisy-chained incorrectly. Is this also true for TRS midi? Can someone with a bit of knowledge give some insights..
