Hardware recorders for multiple synth parts

My Boss BR-600 is crapping the bed with recording synths. I'm looking at in-production units such as the Tascam or Zoom 8-tracks. Does anyone have experience / recommendations? If I can get down 4 stereo tracks I'd be happy.
