Hey Reddit,

I just saw an Akai MPC live(the first model) on Craigslist for a really good price, and I was wondering how well it would fit my needs. I saw a couple reviews, and I'm not sure if it's not too Overkill for my setup. My main focus: I Do dawless live looping, with multiple instruments(synths and guitar-ish things). My setup: A Roland MC101 that (kinda) acts as a midi brain(provides clock for the Loop, a drum track and a few synth tracks, all live recorded) A pigtronix Infinity looper (to Loop instruments that arent sequenced in the 101). And my instruments (guitar, bass, mandolin, synths etc.) Going in a mixer before the Loop.

I'm thinking about switching my mc101 for the MPC live, for sequencing external gear and for live recording drums/samples. I know it has a looper function, but I think I would stay with my own looper. Also, is sacrificing the good synth engine if the mc101 worth the sampling capabilities of the mpc?

What Do y'all think?

submitted by /u/photiont17
[link] [comments]
