Complete new to Synth in general

Hey
im completely new to synth in general cause it never appeals me
before I was only playing drums, acoustic guitar and other non electrical stuff

but only a few weeks ago I found out about modular and was totally hooked, how have I not seen this before, anyway

I watched several YouTube videos and "played" a few hours with MiRack (iPhone and Mac)
(i don't listen to techno but I enjoyed making it in MiRack but also just atmospehre sounds)

i have searched here before but have not found anything current that fits my topic exactly

At first I wanted to get the nifty bundle and pre planned some basic modules but I think a better start for me would be a semi modular synth to see if I like it in long term

the problem is, i get so overwhelmed that im not sure what's suits me
-I like the idea to use simple beats but would like to do as little as possible with a pc
-I don't have any other tools (like key/beat step, volca, etc.)
-im also a filmmaker and like the idea to make sound design with it (pc doesn't matter then, it would be work) but priority is just for hobby (with less pc)
-Start Budget between 300-600€ +/- (but would be really happy if I could stay under 400)

Some semi modulars i liked so far
-Mother 32 -Neutron with Beatsep (not sure if I want to use keys that much)
-Behringer Crave

From a budget/experience point of view my first thought would be to get the Crave but I read so much good stuff about the M32 but don’t know if that much money is worth it for me personal (i know that even the m32 is cheap for synths)

I don’t need to do high end stuff, I just want to have fun (and getting kinda lost)

Are there any semi modular synths im missing which would also fit?
Which route would u suggest for me to start with

Do I need something else to make beats + sounds together?

(I hope that's it for now, sorry for the long text haha)

submitted by /u/Akrota
[link] [comments]
