Building a two voices rack

Hey everybody!

So this is my current setup:

https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/1006326

I use this with my Octatrack and already know i will have to replace the A-190-4 with a Mutant Brain in order to be able to sequence 2 voices.

I want to build a 2 oscillators synth that I could use as a single voice powerful sound design tool, or as two simpler voices sequenced and mixed live with the Octatrack. The music I aspire to make at the moment is hypnotic sparse techno similar to Prince of Denmark, Daniel Avery (I think playing the Octa as a dub mixer with a delay pedal on the cue and some tasty drum loops and improv on the modular would be an interesting idea)

So I have a few questions for you:

What would your second oscillator be? I'm torn between the STO, Dixie 2+, Ts-L and Godspeed+

Should I change my filter for a dual LPG? Have both? Buy another one?

Regarding sequencing, I'm hesitating between relying on the Octatrack only (which already has some pretty powerful options) and dedicating a few hp for that in my system. Should I do that or should I dedicate my system to sound generation?

Also, if I go the modular sequencing route, I'm torn between getting a Marbles or getting a few simpler module (like the 2HP turing, tune, arp, euclid, the Tirana and the Zularic Repetitor for example). The Marbles seems like a cheaper option and a really powerful generator, but I fear being limited to a certain type of melodies, whereas the second option looks like a more expensive but also more expressive one since all sections of the sequencing (triggers, CV, etc) are separated from each other and I can plug then as I like. Which option seems the more interesting to you? Should i consider something other than Marbles? (I looked at the Varigate 4+ and i believe everything it does is covered by the Octatrack)

Finally, is there anything lacking in my setup? (apart from Maths, I see you coming Smile ) Should i change anything?

submitted by /u/Martouel
[link] [comments]
