Looking for guidance on hardware samplers that add color to my sounds

Really wanting to buy a vintage sampler just to run stuff through, not necessarily store samples on. I’m very tantalized by the Akai S6000, but there’s not much about it online. People say it sounds too clean is that true? I want a sampler that adds color, warmth, grit and what have you to what I run through it. Do y’all have any suggestions? As the S6000 is only like $500 now, I’m looking to spend under a grand.
