Managing power/patch cables for live performance

How do you guys effectively manage power and patch cables to multiple samplers, synths, mixers, controllers, etc? I really like the efficiency of guitar pedalboard designs where there is a hidden power supply and discrete cables and I am trying to think of a way to perform electronic music without a bunch of cable excess.
