Semi-Modular Starter Recommendation

Hi all. I want to buy a solid semi-modular synth mostly for hands on sound design. I make what I would call “strange bass music”. Want to keep spend below $500 for now so I’m thinking 0-Coast. Would this be a good option for now and I can add modules down the line to it? I know it’s a pretty unusual little synth, so want to see if people have had positive experiences going this route, or have other recommendations.
