Random drop outs

Wondered if I could get some validation for an idea. Want to create random drop outs of samples. Would this work:

Run a cv source into an inverter (3xMia for me) which then gets used in a vca. My idea is that the previous positive voltage would now be negative and the vca would be open most of the time with the inverted voltage creating the drop out (I.e closing the vca and causing silence).

Can anyone validate this idea for me?

Cheers
