Question about how everyone inputs sources

USB mixer or Audio interface or Both? What are your thoughts

I have a very small set up right now. Couple of Roland boutiques and a Novation SL mk3 workstation hooked up to my MacBook

I’m trying to get everything talking and inputs into Ableton.
