electribe 2 external clock issue

Okay, so im curious if anybody else has experienced this or not, but i cant find it online for the mountain of related topics that come up for any wording i can think of. my electribe 2 sends clock without issue, but receiving it (usb or midi din via another device's thru) from ableton, it will start 1 1/16th note step behind, pretty much right on the money. this doesnt happen every time but often enough that its an issue. if it was consistent i would just program stuff offset tbh but this is driving me crazy. offsetting the midi from ableton feels like a bandaid, and not super helpful given the inconsistency. any insight?
