Non quantized midi looper

Hi all. Still trying to figure out what to add to my digital piano and sequential pro 3.

Primarily my needs are drum machine and audio looper. But I really want a Vermona DRM 1 which needs an external sequencer.

Given I’m all hardware I was hoping to have primarily a midi looper/sequencer. My needs are that it could loop midi sequences, like the equivalent of a loop pedal except for midi, but also have a sequencer built in for step sequencing a drum kit. It would also be awesome if it could loop audio.

There are things that come close but not quite right. Ableton would work but my laptop is old and I know latency will be an issue, and I would need to buy a controller and decent interface.

Polyend play looks really interesting but it doesn’t seem to have a midi loop function and it seems that recorded polyphonic midi will take up multiple tracks.

Hapax looks great but no audio.

Any suggestions? Maybe going small and starting with a Bastl midi looper might work?

Maybe I just need to get multiple devices but trying to be sensible with budget as this is just for fun at home.

Anyone any experience with this scenario?
