Options for recording modular while monitoring audio

I recently got hold of a second hand Expert Sleepers ES-8, for the dual purposes of outputting CV to my rack with Silent Way, and recording audio more conveniently than using a standard audio interface.

For the first purpose it's working great, but recording audio is problematic, as the ES-8 provides no way to monitor the sound going in. What do you all use for this kind of thing? The options I can think of are: -

• Upgrading to an ES-9. I've seen it has some kind of internal mixer, though the manual is complex so I can't tell if it would let me monitor all eight audio inputs in the headphone output like I need.

• A new audio interface - replacing my Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 with something that has ADAT ports, so I could add an ES-3 and ES-6 for input and output. But do interfaces let you mix/monitor the ADAT audio inputs in their headphone mix?

• Trying to mess around with ASIO4ALL so I can run my ES-8 and the Scarlett at the same time, then trying to set up monitoring via my DAW. I'm wary of this approach due to latency, but it's the only option that might work without buying new hardware.

Do any of you use any of the above approaches, or is there anything else you can suggest that might work for me?
