Elektron's insane prices in Australia

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has any insight on this. I've noticed that the price of all Elektron gear in Australia is wildly inflated compared to US prices. For example, the Octatrack MKII which retails for $1,399 in the US ($1,990 AUD) has a pricetag of !! $3150 !! AUD down here; what factors play in to a 60% price hike?

I understand that because of the geographical isolation and shipping fees there's always a worse price than the US, but with other companies' gear such as Roland etc, there's only like a ~15% increase in price (example being the highly in-demand TR8s which is in backorder all over Aus). Any thoughts?
