Beginner Synthesizer

Hey everyone. I’m a young musician playing in a band, and have found myself in need of a synth. I’ve looked at the Roland JD-XI, and it seems to look good for the stuff I want to play and do. I need a synth that will allow me to play 70s and 80s rock, namely pink Floyd, queen etc. But I also need to be able to home record with it, playing a wide variety of genres. Is there a synth for less than $600 that could achieve this?
