Help me pick a first synth: MakeNoise v. Mother v. Crave

I'm a sort of musician who has become increasingly interested in and infatuated with modular. I've done as much research as one can do before actually starting to play but I'm looking for opinions. I have it narrowed to the make noise, mother32 and the crave, but I'm not sure which is the best for a beginner.

My goal is to make dreamy, brooding melodic dark/fun weird poppy music if that makes sense. nothing with too many edges, but it's nice to have options. From research, it seems like the Moog is a safe bet, but the price is high. the crave seems to be more or less a direct knock off. Is the extra money worth it for the Moog or is it just the brand name that you pay for? The Make Noise looks awesome and seems like it would be more intuitive for a beginner, but it also seems to not really be geared for what I want to do with it.

Are there any other pieces of equipment that are necessary or extra nice to have with any of them? Is one more user friendly for beginners than the other?

Any advice will be appreciated!
