What about using a Compressor Pedal at the Master?

Hello there!

I'm quite new to hardware setups, though I've been producing a lot fully digital. I don't know much about pedals and gear but I do know that my live performance mix would benefit from some subtle (or sometimes not so much) compression at the end of the chain. I know that there is a very nice compressor Fmr RNC 1773 that would certainly do the job, but I wanted to know what would happen if I use a pedal compressor instead. Any ideas or experience with those? I'd love to hear your opinions.
