Incorporating electronic sounds into rock based music: where to start?

I’m in a band and we play rock music. I love electronic elements in modern rock and pop and am interested in introducing these elements into my own music.

My question is, where is a good place to start? What would be a good setup to start introducing some synth sounds into our music?

P.s I am the drummer in this band.
