The Prologue/Minilogue(XD) Is a Hidden Future Classic

I picked up a Minilogue XD thinking it was kind of cool based off the demos and wanted to just try out. It's really not much of a looker, but after a couple of hours of getting to know the synth the warmth of the sound really started to grow on me. The synth is super underrated because it doesn't demo very well. The moogs, prophets, and virtual analogs have some bite to their sound so it sounds more impressive...at first. This thing though sounds so smooth and warm that I could listen to it for hours. It blows any subtractive VSTi synth out of the water with just the raw analog oscillators alone. The character to is a bit mid heavy, with smooth highs and round balanced lows. The lows aren't big and thick like moog, but tight and warm. They really dialed in the perfect amount of bass that's neither too big nor too small. The drive feature gives basses and leads a bit of a boost to get more of a modern sound. The filter is sort of transparent, but it doesn't really need a "personality" filter because the core sound is already so well balanced. If you want a piercing top end you can always add on noise or use one of the wavetables to it. IMO, the analog sound is really the star of the show although it's nice to have wavetables at your beck and call. The reverb is above average and has a decent thickness that can add to the body of the sound for a really rich combination.

The youtube demos really do NOT do this synth justice. Check out the official ones, they sound much better: https://www.korg.com/us/products/synthesizers/prologue/

The demo's really don't scream instant gas, but after listening to it for a while the smoothness of the tone will win you over.

Grab this guy while you still can...
