Would MC 101 with a medi keyboard serve well as a portable synth/ groove box?

It started with me just looking for a small "piano" that I can carry around, but after looking more into it, I find that most synths either have good keys or functionalities, but not both. So i wonder if mc 101 plus a small medi keyboard would be a good battery powered portable set up?
