Can an Onerheim MC1000 work?

Hey everyone!

I play in a band and the keyboardist needs a new instrument as soon as possible instead of his casio digital piano and I found an Oberheim MC1000 88-key midi controller for a very low price. It has weighted keys and the build quality is nice, I read.

My questions: is it possible that it will do wierd stuff and not work proberly in a laptop setup regarding its age? Do you recommend something more contemporary (weighted keys controller, or hardware with decent piano e piano and organ sounds)?
