Question about using a synth with power supply 12V 1a in North America

I posted a question a few days ago, it has yet to be resolved: https://www.reddit.com/r/synthesizers/comments/p11js8/need_help_with_elta_polivoks_mini_constant/

I was told it might have something to do with the power supply. The synth is from Russia and it worked fine in China. Now I'm in Canada and it is acting totally weird.

What should I do to get this thing working? What kind of converter should I buy to make it work? From what I read I need some kind of 'step up' converter.

Any help would be appreciated!
